Manual returns platform Statiegeld Nederland
Statiegeld Nederland, a division of Verpact, wanted to expand their network of deposit return locations with ViaTim, a Dutch provider of parcel pickup points. Following a successful pilot in 2025, consumers can now return their bottles and cans in their own neighbourhood at more than 250 ViaTim locations.
A mobile app is used to scan the items and refund their deposit via a Tikkie QR. This means that more easily accessible deposit return locations become available in many residential areas, making deposit returns more convenient. The collected bottles and cans are stored in leak-proof, reusable bags that, once full, are collected by parcel carriers in the area and transferred to a central location where they are processed.
Mindhash designed, built, and provides the infrastructure for the new deposit return system used by these new locations. This includes tracking deposits, processing financial transactions, and providing the app and self-service portal used by both Statiegeld Nederland and the deposit return locations.
The app and the self-care portal combined allow for easy management and large scale deployments. The self-care portal provides insight into overall usage and detailed statistics and breakdowns on the number of deposits processed, traceability for all items, fraud prevention and the ability to manage individual service points. The app allows operators at ViaTim service points to scan and collect deposit items and generate digital cashback Tikkie QR codes, which can easily be redeemed by customers to receive the value of their deposit, even without a Tikkie account.
